Panasonic TH-50PX77U Review
Panasonic TH-42PX77U Review
Panasonics plasma TVs have always been a favorite consumers looking for plasmas with a great quality picture but at a moderate budget. The Panasonic TH-50PX77U and Panasonic TH-42PX77U fit that bill.
With the amount of plasma TV models that Panasonic produces, I feel Panasonic over does it by offering different models from PX75U to PX77U to the Costco's PE77U. For us, the consumer, Panasonic should know it's hard for us to tell the differences between their models. At times, I wish that Panasonic would make it easier and just discontinue a line and start fresh. The Panasonic TH-50PX77U and Panasonic TH-42PX77U are made for the budget conscious since they are only a resolution of 1366x768, compared to the 1080P of the P2700U model.
The Panasonic PX77U is the anti-glare version of the PX75U and has a subtle difference of having the speakers on the side. The anti-glare is Panasonic's way to compete more against the LCD market. Does the anti-glare version work on the Panasonic TH-50PX77U and Panasonic TH-42PX77U? Yes, it does reduce glare, but does not eliminate the glare. Still it is a vast improvement from plasmas in the past, and is better than a normal plasma TV when the room is brightly lit.
The PX77U does provide a punch in its picture by providing deep blacks and good color depth. One thing that stood out with the Panasonic TH-50PX77U and Panasonic TH-42PX77U is how the picture of standard definition feeds is more bearable to watch than other flat screens out there.
The major features of the Panasonic TH-50PX77U and Panasonic TH-42PX77U are:
- 1366 x 768 resolution
- 10,000:1 contrast ratio
- 29 billion displayable colors
- 2 Hdmi inputs
- 2 Component video inputs
The Panasonic TH-50PX77U and TH-42PX77U is highly recommended for the plasma loving consumers who want a great looking image. The 2 speakers are located on the side with the normal black bezel. The PX77U is worth spending the extra $100 over the PX75U series because of the anti-glare feature. You definitely want fewer glares off your TV screen and these models will help. Panasonic does a good job trying to bridge a gap between the LCD and plasma when it comes to the glare issue.
