Panasonic TH-50PZ700U Review
The Panasonic TH-50PZ700U is the Panasonic's 1080P 50-inch plasma flat screen. Trying to uphold their reputation of performance-based flat screen TVs with a price that a consumer will consider, the 50-inch Panasonic TH-50PZ700U will not disappoint even the true high tech enthusiast.
Panasonic came out with the following 50-inch plasma:
1) Panasonic TH-50PZ750U is the high end model with the split screen picture and 3 HDMI inputs and opposed to two that comes with the lower model. The TH-50PZ750U also has a studio reference mode that produces colors that a movie studio or director would use in editing movies.
2) Panasonic TH-50PZ700U, which is reviewed here, does not have the split screen as the PZ750U model and has 2 HDMI inputs. The 50PZ2700U will most likely be more popular with the consumers due to its prices point. This Panasonic 50PZ2700U model also has the 1080P resolution.
3) Panasonic TH-50PX77U does not have the 1080P resolution, and therefore has the lower 1366x768 resolution. This basic model is significantly cheaper because of its resolution and the speakers are attached to the side of the TV.
The Panasonic TH-50PZ700U will be the most popular of the models because of the 1080P resolution and lower price than the flagship TH-50PZ750U. The Panasonic plasma TV comes with an anti-reflective coating which reduces the glare off the screen compared to the older generation plasma televisions. When looking at the Panasonic TH-50PZ700U, you must try to find the reflection; therefore the Panasonic TH-50PZ700U does a decent job with its anti-reflective coating. The bezel comes in a nice black coal look that surrounds the screen.
The big selling point of the Panasonic TH-50PZ700U is its picture performance. Even in instances of SD or standard definition, the picture looks pretty good. The colors come out very naturally with good flesh tones with deeper blacks than most LCD TVs. Most people buying plasmas usually impressed with the performance of the picture quality when compared to a LCD screen, as fast action sequences are very smooth. When watching the Panasonic TH-50PZ700U with a 1080P source, you'll be blown away by high definition picture. The Panasonic TH-50PZ700U has a built in SD card slot so consumers can look at their photos on their TV without a media center or any extra adaptors.
The major specifications of the Panasonic TH-50PZ700U are:
- 1080P, 1920 x 1080 resolution
- 68.7 Billion equivalent colors for darker parts of picture
- Anti reflective coating
- Built-in SD Card Slot
- 5000:1 contrast ratio
- 2 HDMI input
- NTSC/ATSC/QAM tuners
- 4 Speakers
The Panasonic TH-50PZ700U is a great choice for a 1080P performance-enhanced flat screen television. If size is an issue and the 42-inch is much too small, then this 50-inch model should fit the bill. The picture performance out duals any flat screen out there. The blacks are deep and colors are plentiful. This TV would be optimally placed in a room with limited sunlight. In general, plasmas do not produce the brightness of an LCD TV but it is in exchange for a great smooth motion picture with detailed color. This model is a great addition to any movie theater enthusiast's home.
