Panasonic TH-42PX50U Review

Panasonic has been building a strong following with their entries in the plasma market.  The TH-42PX50U produces a great image with vibrant colors. Panasonic claims to have 8.58 billion colors.   The speakers are located on the bottom of the screen. The screen is surrounded by a black border and has a very clean and distinctive design.

The Panasonic plasmas have a cable card slot, so you can view the HD broadcast without a bulky set top box.  The problem with this option is that not every cable service provider produces this special card; therefore you have to buy the box no matter if you use it or not.

The high definition quality is breath taking.  You'll feel like you are in the stands when watching any football or hockey game. The analog channels leave a little to be desired.  In time, most channels will be changed over to the HD channel anyways.  In recent pricing, the Panasonic is more budget conscious than the Pioneer but more expensive than the Samsung

Recommendation

The Panasonic TH-42PX50U is highly recommended for its sharp details and picture color.  The price is more reasonable compared to the Pioneer PDP-4360 HD and the Hitachi 42HDT52.  The speaker are fairly decent, but if you want the full home theatre experience, dishing out for a 5.1 channel stereo system is a must.  When buying a plasma TV, you are most likely buying the TV for its picture quality and the Panasonic TH-42PX50U does not dissapoint..
