Pioneer PDP-5061 HD Review
As with the 43 inch version (Pioneer PDP-4360 HD), Pioneer has delivered a fantastic 50” plasma that produces a clear, brilliant picture. The picture has great contrast with sharp detail in black scenes. The high definition resolution of the Pioneer PDP-5060 HD produces a 1280 x 768 picture.
The screen is surrounded by a black border, which gives the unit a very attractive look. This plasma TV includes side mount speakers which are not included with the 43 inch PDP-4360 HD. Pioneer has a separate media receiver, not commonly found with the competing companies. This separate media receiver provides a cleaner connection between all your video components. You would hook all your video components to the media receiver; then one audio/video connector would connect to the television. You do not have to fiddle around plugging in other cables to the back of the monitor.
Recommendation
Pioneer has again made a big splash with this impressive 50 inch model. If you are not worried about your budget, this is the TV of choice. The separate receiver that comes with the Pioneer PDP-5061 HD is a nice touch, but it increases the price of the set. This receiver includes two HDMI inputs, one more than others seen in the market. One should be very happy with quality of picture and construction of this set. There should be no second guessing after this purchase. If you are budget constrained and looking for a 50 inch plasma TV, you should be looking at the Panasonic TH-50PX50U.
