Top 10 50-inch and over Plasma TVs of 2006
Here is our list of the top 10 Plasma TV's that are larger than 50 inches:
- Hitachi Ultravision 55HDS69 - This 55-inch model possesses a beautiful picture when watching fast action images. The reason why it is chosen number one? For those people who can't justify the cost between a 50-inch and 60 inch plasma TV, this Hitachi presents a happy medium with a great picture.
- Pioneer PDP-5071HD - A mainstay in providing excellent picture quality. The bezel has a stylish black piano finish. Pioneer was one of the first companies to present their bezels in the black finish. A little more expensive than others, but you pay for what you get.
- Panasonic TH-58PX60U - A huge 58-inch plasma TV that provides a picture but puts a dent in your pocket book. I wish they could have made an option of a black cabinet. As usual, the Panasonic provides deep blacks and excellent sharpness.
- Samsung HP-S5053 - This Samsung is very competitively priced with the Panasonic TH-50PX60U. The Samsung has the fewer glares than normal plasma TVs and less burn in. A very attractive black bezel that blends in nicely with any TV room.
- Panasonic TH-50PX60U - The Panasonic 50-inch plasma provides a sweet spot in price and quality. It would have been nice if Panasonic had an option for the black cabinet.
- LG 50PC3D - A very attractive 50-inch model for a reasonable price. LG is trying to take some market share, and I think it will. The picture does not compare to the Panasonics or Pioneers, but it is decent.
- Pioneer PDP-6071HD – A very high end 60 inch TV that you are paying a huge premium for. You could jump over to the Panasonic 58-inch for thousands less. Still you a paying for a quality TV.
- Toshiba 50HP66 – The 50-inch Toshiba looks like it needs update the cabinetry. Picture quality is decent and the price is in the range of the Panasonics and Samsungs.
- LG 60PC1D – LG has put out a very nice 60 inch plasma for a decent price. I think the big push in this LG model is the 2 year warranty compared to the normal one year.
- Phillips 50PF9631D/37 - This 50-inch Phillips plasma does not have the picture quality as the others. It will be up to your eyes to decide. Phillips does have the option of the black or silver bezel cabinet.
