Samsung HP-S4253 Review
(MSRP $1999.99)
Samsung is trying to take a bite out of the LCD market by offering the benefits of a LCD screen in a plasma screen TV. The major complaints of the plasma screen TV is the reflection from the screen and possible burn in such as playing video games. Samsung has a filter bright technology that minimizes glare and maximizes contrast. Judging from the comparison of other plasmas, the Samsung's do produce less of a glare compared to other plasmas. Again, it does not eliminate the glare like the LCD flat screens but it is an improvement to other plasma TVs.
The other complaint of plasma TVs is the possible burn in or image retention left when a stable image is left on a screen for a period of time. When an image is left on the screen, the pixel image is moved around to alleviate the possible burn in. Anyone considering games for their TV, but do not want to spend the extra money for an LCD TV, this Samsung HP-S4253 plasma TV could be the solution.
The Samsung HP-S4253 major specifications are:
- 13 Bit processor that produces 549 billion lifelike colors
- Filter Bright anti-glare filter
- Auto Pixel Shift (Burn in resistant)
- One hdmi, 2 component and on component video
- SRS Trusurround XT
- Built in HDTV tuner
- 2 Speakers 10-Watt per channel
The Samsung HP-S4253 has a black bezel that surrounds the picture. The speakers are hidden on the bottom of the display and do not have exceptional sound. If you want a real home theatre experience, you may want to consider an external sound system. The Samsung HP-S4273 has a better sound system with 6 speakers with 15 Watts per channel, if you'd like a plasma TV with a better sound system. If you should decide that you do not want a integrated HD Tuner and you have an external HD tuner, then the Samsung HP-S4233 could also be a cheaper alternative than the HP-S4253 and the HP-S4273.
